The Youth Collective is the first youth education project of Purpose Lab Collective LLC, based in North SLO County.
We are building relationships with schools, nonprofits, community organizations, land stewards, artists, scientists, journalists, and mentors who believe young people deserve meaningful opportunities to learn, contribute, and create positive change.
We welcome partnerships that help students:
learn directly from people doing thoughtful work
explore real community and environmental questions
participate in meaningful, age-appropriate service
visit local organizations and project sites
receive guidance and feedback from knowledgeable mentors
develop projects that benefit people, animals, and the Earth
share hopeful, well-researched stories about our region
We would love to connect with organizations and individuals who can offer:
a guest conversation or student interview
a behind-the-scenes visit or field experience
an authentic question students could investigate
guidance on a service, habitat, or community-care project
feedback on a student-designed solution
mentorship in science, ecology, journalism, art, design, engineering, education, or community work
a place where student work could be shared or implemented
Local School and Community Organization Connections
The Youth Collective can complement school and community learning through small-group projects, humane education, systems thinking, local inquiry, and meaningful action.
We welcome conversations with schools and organizations interested in:
referring students
hosting a visit or field experience
sharing expertise
identifying authentic community needs
collaborating on youth-led projects
offering space for student work to be presented or put into action
developing future Purpose Lab Collective programs
The Youth Collective is interested in building thoughtful connections with colleges and universities.
These relationships may take many forms. A college student might join a conversation about their field, a researcher might help students understand a local question, or a faculty member might offer perspective on a developing project. University programs may also identify opportunities for service learning, field research, storytelling, design, or community engagement.

We are raising young people in a moment that asks a great deal of them.
They are growing up surrounded by complex problems, rapid change, and so many messages about what is going wrong. I believe they also need something more: genuine hope, meaningful relationships, and real opportunities to take part in building what comes next.
Our communities could use more authentic mentorship, deeper collaboration, thoughtful systems thinking, and hopeful energy around the challenges we share.
The Youth Collective is one small way to create that space. A place where young people can learn from people doing meaningful work, ask better questions, understand how problems are connected, and discover practical ways to contribute.
Perhaps your organization has a question students could investigate, a place they could learn from, a project they could strengthen, or a story worth helping others understand.
